You ever find yourself staring back at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself βAm I enough?β βWill I ever amount to anything?β βCan I really see change in my life?β I want to see you find victory today!
Competing in life doesnβt have to be a bad thing, itβs just a matter of βwhoβ you are competing with. Looking around at other people and what they have & how they live their life has nothing to do with You! God has given each one of us a specific unique life. For us to be caught up in someone elseβs life puts us in a position to reject what God has for us to have! He has designed us for a great purpose. Each one of us.
Jeremiah 29:11-12 (amp) βFor I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,β says the LORD, βplans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call on Me and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice] and I will listen to you.β
God has created us for a purpose. Itβs time to stop competing with others. Competition and jealousy work hand in hand. Itβs hard at times to not get caught up in comparing yourself; your successes, your children, your gifts and talents, your acts of giving, your life to someone elseβs. But, this is so dangerous and can suck the life out of you. It is designed to suck your purpose, your identity, your authenticity, your personality, your joy, your peace, your hope… leaving you feeling like YOU are not enough.
Competition is not a bad thing in itself. A good dose of challenge can strengthen you and give you some motivation to be better than you are today. But that competition should be aimed at the βyouβ of yesterday.
I want to ask you to examine yourself. Compete with who you were yesterday. Ask yourself, are you a better you than you were a month ago? 6 months ago? A year ago? What about yesterday?
If you are not happy with your results, pray to the Lord to help you get to where you want to be. Where HE has made you to be, and who He has made you to be. Get your focus OFF other people and get them on YOU.
Who are you? Who do you want to be? What has God given you in life (your gifts/talents)? What are you doing with them? Do they need strengthened, sharpened? Are you making effort to seeing that happen? What is your passion? What do you like? What seems to occupy your mind? What drives you? What do you seem to perk up to talk about when it comes up? How do you like to dress/ what is YOUR style? What do you see yourself doing?
…. Be a better YOU and go after these things! Dare to believe that God created YOU to shine for Him. Some may shine with many talents, some may shine with 3, and some may have 1 that they glow and make known throughout the world. Find YOU and go after being better today than you were yesterday. Set goals for yourself. Find a mentor. Surround yourself with people that will help you get there. And set your face like a flint to seek God. Together, you and Him will see the plan come to completion in this beautiful gift of life youβve been given. He is faithful to accomplish what He started in you (Philippians 1:6).
βDo you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.β 1 Corinthians 9:24
This is your race. Run it well. Nobody can receive the prize that is set up for you at the finish line. Run with God and all the changes that need to be made, will be made through His Spirit. Be a better you!
